DIY lip Scrub

This week's post will be on making your own lip scrub. It's really easy, and it works great.

We all have a problem with dry lips especially in this cold Minnesota weather. Just a little information on the ingredients in this mixture.
Coconut oil has many benefits for health and beauty. It contains fatty acids, vitamin K, vitamin E, and Iron. It is used in many acne and anti aging creams. Research has proven that it works great on preventing wrinkles. It is also a great moisturizer and anti inflammatory, and is used for acne treatment. You can also use coconut oil for your hair. IT is a great natural treatment for dry damaged hair. You can apply it to your hair for 30 minutes than shampoo regularly.
Honey has been used for thousands of years as a natural home remedy.  It was used to treat cuts, burns, and even arthritis pain. Honey is a great natural energy booster, and has some great beauty benefits that I will write about later.

Now to make your own scrub all
 you need is:

  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil (make sure the oil is soft, not to oil, and not to dry)
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  •  2 teaspoons of brown sugar

In a bowl mix 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, and 1 tablespoon of honey. Mix well.

Add two teaspoons of brown sugar, and mix with the with the rest of the ingredients.

Last you can either add 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil, or melt the coconut oil, and add it to the mixture.  This helps softens the mixture.

Store in a small jar, and if it is refrigerated it will last up to two weeks.

To use it: Apply to lips in a circular motion for 1-3 minutes then wash off with a warm wash cloth.
